Detroit Youth Violence Prevention Initiative

This collaborative is working to reduce exposure to violence among teens and young adults in the City of Detroit.

City serves as the fiduciary and a technical assistance partner for this community wide initiative.

The Detroit Youth Violence Prevention Initiative was created by Detroit Mayor Dave Bing in 2012, in response to a request by the Obama administration that cities across America do more to prevent youth violence exposure.

Current activities of the collaborative include implementation of a Ceasfire gun violence prevention program and a Positive Behavioral Supports Intervention program in select Detroit schools.
